Newborn Procedures in the Golden Hour

Learning outcomes :

-Describe evidence on two best practices for newborns in the golden hour:

Skin-to-skin and delayed cord clamping

-Discuss evidence on procedures that often take precedence over skin-to-skin

and bonding, including suction, hatting, bathing, Vitamin K, and eye ointment

I am so excited to offer this interactive and engaging workshop that will be co-taught with my friend Amy Blain, RN, Evidence Based Birth Instructor . The last group of students reported that it was a truly eye-opening experience!

The Savvy Birth Workshop for parents was developed by Evidence Based Birth® to give parents the confidence and know-how they need to have a more positive, empowering experience in the birthing room.

Learning Objectives Include:

  1. Define evidence-based care Discuss the availability and pros/cons of local birth options
  2. Practice respectful ways to talk with your provider
  3. Discuss how partners, doulas, and nurses can work together to provide labor support
  4. Describe the benefits and limitations of birth plans
  5. Discuss the human and legal rights of birthing persons
